Clear Thinking About Your Practice
Dynamic Veterinary Concepts is an experienced and professional team providing knowledge, insight and guidance in the areas of leadership, operations and strategy, enabling our clients to achieve results and reach their goals.
In all of what we do, a few key concepts stand out. We provide clear thinking and relevant information, with the goal of establishing long-term ongoing relationships with our clients. We are open to any aspect of development that fits these concepts.

Advisory Services to Business Owners
DVC’s advisory services include negotiations, practice startups, exit strategies, partner buyouts, mergers and organizational development and management. We provide a source of critical examination and thinking about specific issues that an owner is facing. This advisory process often takes place by phone and email with document exchange and sometimes in-person discussions.

Counseling on Phases of Growth
We use tried and true methodology to assess the current phase of business growth and to identify the challenges and/or barriers to continued growth. From this assessment, we work with the operating owner(s) to create plans to deal with those challenges and barriers.
In this offering, we’re focused on the growing small and medium-sized business with the goal of helping them become a mature, financially stable, professionally managed business. We focus on four key areas: Market Niche, Systems & Information, Management Team, and Finance & Money. As part of this process, we’re often involved in the Leadership Development of owners and managers and use both behavior and communication assessments in our work.

Source of Reference Material
We bring business information from both inside and outside the veterinary profession to our clients. The veterinary profession is very fragmented and likely to remain that way for some time and most business information in the profession is filtered through a select group of veterinary management consultants. We try to bring relevant and fundamental information to the profession as well as being able to point others to good sources of information.

Industry Outlook and Overview
We participate in a variety of forums that allow us to construct an overview of the veterinary profession and especially of the referral practice segment of our profession. This is vitally important to our clients given the manpower challenges (we have a national shortage of veterinarians that isn’t likely to get better in the next 10 years) they face as business owners. Our history of being involved in the early and current portions of growth in this segment and our willingness to seek out new information has given us a good view into the future of our profession. We’ve developed connections, contacts and involvement into many aspects of the profession; including the educational segment (“output” of veterinarian labor) and animal health industry and veterinary practice segments (“users” of veterinarian labor) of the profession. In addition to gathering information from a variety of sources, we synthesize this information to create models of the various forces coming to play in current and future time periods.

Operational Management Roles
We will, when needed, perform certain operational management responsibilities and duties for a practice, typically in the area of remaking organizational structure, acting in a CFO or Advisory Board role or working in the areas of Human Resources and Clinical Operations Management.

Facilitated Study Group
We facilitated a select group of client practices participating in our Referral Practice Study Group (RPSG), a peer group of managing owners of referral practices. Membership in this group provided such things as attendance at two facilitated meetings yearly, financial statement comparisons and discussions, website access to Level 4 reference materials, and secure peer group online discussions of both self-initiated topics and assigned article reviews.

Content Development and Training
We’re currently developing content for presentation in a sponsored seminar format. By sponsored seminar format, we mean that a client referral practice would bring us to their hospital or neighborhood to present a seminar to their referring general practices who would then send their management or supervisory staff. Referral practices are generally interested in strengthening the bonds with their referring practices and often offer medical continuing education to these practices for this very reason. Our seminars in basic supervisory and management skills are an excellent complement to the typical medical seminars. Additionally, we are regularly asked to speak at national meetings on the topic of management.

Preferred Client Advantages
We work to provide meaningful “value-added” advantages to our clients. As such, we’ve obtained discounted registration fees for Leadership Development training by our preferred provider and we’re exploring the idea of creating a Group Purchasing Organization (GPO) for our clients so as to aggregate their buying power to create economic advantages (DVC would administrate this GPO).
