Leading: Yourself and Transformation
If you're leading a business or organization, you'll have a couple of typical challenges along the way. One is that you'll need to figure out how to review your own performance, and the other is that you'll need to lead the organization through some sort of transition(s). The January 2007 issue of HBR has a couple of good articles...The first, titled "What to Ask the Person in the Mirror", gives leaders a framework of 7 key areas in which they should examine their performance, and provides some useful questions for evaluating your own performance in those key areas.
The second article, titled "Leading Change; Why Transformation Efforts Fail", outlines eight critical success factors. This article will seem really familiar to anyone who has led transformation, if the process didn't go as well as hoped (or failed).
More good stuff from HBR, especially as as "autopsy" if you've gone through these processes already.
